ADATA UV140 USB Flash Drive 16GB review - Clip-on USB 3.0 flash drive

As the digital storage of today, USB flash drives offer huge capacities of storage space in a tiny easy-to-carry-around package. However, this is also a double edged sword as many people tend to lose or misplace their USB flash drives about as often as they do USB charging cables. The ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive adds on a wing-shaped bookmark clip design with a scratch, smudge and fingerprint matte design for a USB flash drive that you can clip-on and keep while on the go. Check out our review of the  ADATA UV140 USB Flash Drive below to find out if it is the USB Flash Drive for you.

The ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive is small, tough and portable

Measuring in at 43 x 15 x 8mm and weighing in at 4g, the ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive is definitely small and portable. Featuring a capless USB 3.0 port on the front the flash drive has an angled back attached to a wing-shaped clip that comes in blue or red. The main body is black and covered with a matte surface that is scratch, smudge and fingerprint-resistant and so far, this is quite true as the main USB drive has remained spotless throughout our testing. You an also attach a string or lanyard on the back as well. While we didn't use it as a bookmark (which would have made it even more easy to misplace), it does clip-on very nicely to a pocket and it is lightweight enough to comfortably hang on a front shirt pocket, so you have something else asides from pens and screwdrivers to hang there.

The ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive clips on well to most pockets and is light enough to hang on your front shirt pocket

Performance-wise, the ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive transfers files well and reliably with fast performance for both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0. For the most part, the drive does not get hot, unless you use it for long periods of time like watching a movie off of it. Obviously, it isn't really made for mobile devices (with no built-in micro USB port) but it should work fine on your tablet or smarphone with an additional USB OTG adapter (it worked well on ours). Our review unit was the 16GB version but it also comes in 32GB and 64GB storage versions as well.

Overall, the ADATA UV140 USB 3.0 Flash Drive is a handy and portable USB 3.0 flash drive. While the plug-in bookmark clip is a relatively small design feature, it should make this USB flash drive harder to lose than others, provided of course that you remember to clip it on in the first place. The drive performs well for the most part and should be well worth the RM35 or so it is currently going for while the scratch, smudge and fingerprint resistant black surface means you can bring it practically anywhere.
