In a few hours after revealing the iPhone 15 series, a government agency (ANFR) from France decided to ban the iPhone 12 due to radiation leaks. According to a Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test they did, Jean-Noel Barrot, a junior minister said the iPhone 12 has a slightly higher radiation than the legal figure.

Barrot also added that if Apple does not respond within two weeks, he is "prepared to order a recall of all iPhones 12 in circulation. The rule is the same for everyone, including the digital giants." On top of that, he said a software update should be sufficient to fix the radiation issue.

In response to that, Apple refuted the claims saying that the iPhone 12 has been "certified by multiple international bodies as compliant with global radiation standards". Moreover, there are several Apple and third-party lab results provided to the Frech agency. To back it up further, the World Health Organisation stated that mobile phone usage has adverse health effects so far.

Still, the French agency is still firm on its stance. Sources told the media that the SAR test is different from the one Apple uses. On top of that, the agency would send its agents to various Apple stores and other distributors to check the iPhone 12, as well as recall all the consumers' iPhone 12.
