The Pakej Komunikasi Belia announced a couple of months back by the government shined a little monetary relief on all the Youth (who qualified) looking to get a new smartphone. Now, under this package DiGi is offering a FREE smartphone and a customized Prepaid data plan all for RM50. The smartphone in question is the Alcatel One Touch Glory 2S which has the following features:

- 256MB RAM
- 150MB storage + microSD (up to 32GB)
- 2MP rear camera
- 1400 mAh li-ion battery

- Android 2.3 Gingerbread
For most of us who already own a smartphone, the Alcatel One Touch Glory 2S specs are quite low. However, bear in mind that this smartphone was produced in 2013 (it even has Bluetooth 4.0 support) and should provide a good introduction for those Youths who have never owned a smartphone and are just starting work as it has built-in Facebook and Twitter apps. In addition to this, the smartphone is FREE. All you need to do is qualify for the Pakej Komunikasi Belia and pay RM50 for the DG Prepaid Smart Plan (SKMM Edition). The plan is also only available to new subscribers but all this means is getting a new DiGi Prepaid number (you also get 3 months worth of validity).

It seems strange that there isn't any bundled free MMS but the extra 1.5GB worth of Internet (via Turbo 3G) should make up for it. It also comes with a FREE 2GB memory card just to sweeten the deal.
