If you own the Microsoft Surface series, this news might please you. Today, Microsoft announced it will provide 6 years of software updates for the laptop series. However, there is a catch, and you might want to read until the end to know about it.

According to the Microsoft Support Page, this change has been effective since last October. Plus, it applies to devices from two different periods - Before 1 January 2021 and After 1 January 2021. For example, the Microsoft Surface Duo was released in 2020. Hence, the last update is still set for October 21 of next year.

While Microsoft does not provide a maximum of 6 years for the software update, it still provides up to 5 and a half years. For example, the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3.

We have yet to confirm other details for this matter. At this point, we will have to wait for more confirmation from Microsoft. You might want to keep your Microsoft devices updated as soon as possible.
