New Google Pixel 'Comet' foldable spotted, rumoured to be Google Pixel Flip

Google unveiled the Google Pixel Fold back in May. But as you may have suspected, the company isn't unlikely to settle with just one foldable smartphone form factor. Sources claim that another Pixel foldable is in the works, one that could be a clamshell foldable.

According to 9to5Google, the latest version of the Google Pixel Buds app had codes about an unknown Google Pixel device codenamed 'Comet'. There are also references to the 'Shiba' and 'Husky', the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro that are set to launch soon. This could mean that the upcoming Google launch would introduce a third device, and it's expected to be a smartphone.

Currently, there's no solid info on what this device could be. But the aforementioned app has classified the device as a 'fold', which strongly hints at it being a foldable smartphone. Since the Google Pixel Fold was launched not too long ago, the chances of this device sporting a different form factor are higher. So, instead of this being the Google Pixel Fold 2, it's more likely to be a clamshell-styled smartphone. Tentatively, it's been called the Google Pixel Flip.

Mind you, we don't have any official confirmation on what device it is. This finding is very speculative, so take it with a grain of salt. But if it's launching with the Pixel 8 series, we'll probably find out what happens very soon. Until then, stay tuned to TechNave for more news and updates.
