The Samsung S5670 also known as the Galaxy Fit is another one of Samsung’s entry in the plethora of mid-range Android-powered phones. Being in the same ‘Galaxy’ series of phones from Samsung, much is expected from this unit and I’m quite happy that it delivers considering the price point it’s being offered at.

Samsung Galaxy Fit is a smartphone which operates at frequencies of GSM 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 / HSDPA 900 / 2100 Mhz. The handset has a impressive 3.31 inches touchscreen display and weighs 108gms. The mobile phone is loaded with much needed connectivity features and multimedia support.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Design & Display

The dimensions ratio of Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 is 110.2MM x 61.2MM x 12.6MM and comes with a black glossy finish with steel Grey lining in the sides. The handset is blessed with 3.31 inches, QVGA TFT capacitive touchscreen with a display size of 320 x 240 pixels. The display feature is also complemented with TouchWiz v3.0 UI and Swype text input method which allows the user to input text easily.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: UI

The Fit runs on Android 2.2 (Froyo) with Samsung’s Touchwiz UI 3.0 on top. You can have as much as 7 home screens where you can place your widgets and a lot of panels in the application drawer. What I really liked about the UI is how Samsung allowed you to organize your application icons in the application drawer. A simple but useful feature absent in some custom UI implementation of other phone manufacturers. Aside from that, everything is how you would expect it to be.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Camera

The Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 has a 5 megapixel camera complemented with auto focus feature. The camera has a resolution of 2592 x 1944 Pixels with digital zoom and Multi-touch zoom options and extended video support features. User can click pictures through various predefined shots available, such as Single Shot, Continuous Shot, Panorama Shot, Smile Shot.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Audio & Video

Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 supports MP3, AAC, AAC+, eAAC+ audio formats with DNSe sound enhancement feature. Moreover the handset has a universal 3.5mm jack and Stereo FM Radio with RDS. The video functionality is quite good as the mobile offers QVGA@15fps video recording and supports 3gp MP4, H.264, H.263 video formats.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Connectivity

Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 offer some of the best connectivity features which can be used for sending and retrieving datas quite fast. Apart from Infrared connectivity, Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 supports GPRS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, USB port, EDGE, GPS and 3G features.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Memory & Messaging

Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 has an internal memory of 160MB which can be extended up to 32GB using microSD card. The handset supports SMS in threaded view, MMS and Email which includes IMAP, POP3, SMTP, Microsoft Exchange, Push Email. The instant messaging features includes Google Talk, Facebook, Twitter, Google Search, Maps, Gmail, YouTube, Calendar, Google Talk, Picasa integration.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Performance

The Galaxy Fit is a full touch smartphone equipped with a 600Mhz processor and 160 MB of internal memory. In terms of performance, the Galaxy Fit is very responsive considering its not-so-powerful processor. Swiping through home screens and scrolling down long lists of contacts is smooth.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Web

Out of all the mid-ranged Android phones I’ve tried, the Galaxy Fit gives one of the best browsing experience in this category perhaps at par or even surpassing that of HTC’s Wildfire. The browser has support for multi-touch and of course Flash. The only snag here is again, the display size since most online content would be cramped in such a small screen. Aside from that, I was quite happy browsing using this device.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Battery

Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 provides a talk time Up to 620 minutes (2G), 370 minutes (3G) and standby time of Up to 640 hours (2G), 460 hours (3G). The mobile is powered with 1350 mAH battery.

Samsung Galaxy Fit: Other Features

Samsung Galaxy fit S5670 has java games and allows more games to be downloaded. Java can be used via third party application, and the smartphone uses HTML Browser which provides faster internet browsing experience. The mobile is also complemented with Image/video editor and Document viewer/editor.

Conclusion:

In summary, I think Samsung has hit the mark in providing an all-around mid-range smartphone for the budget-conscious consumer. The Fit’s price point paired with its less-compromised features and capabilities such as internet sharing and Swype input method is enough to warrant your consideration in acquiring this device. However, if the camera is not much of a big deal for you, little brother Galaxy Mini can save you some cash by sacrificing .20-inch of screen display and a lower megapixel count.
