Samsung Galaxy Mega Official and headed out of Malaysia

Samsung has officially announced that both Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8-inch and 6.3-inch models are coming soon. For now, all news points these two screen-size record breaking phablets heading outside of Malaysia and into Europe in May 2013. The tech specs that we predicted earlier on are mostly accurate except for the fact that these two new phablets will likely offer support for new software features such as Air View, Pop-up Play, Multi Windows and much more.

The two Samsung Galaxy Mega models are expected to cover the phablet range above the Galaxy Note II but due to the slightly lower end specs, are also probably meant for the mid-range in terms of price. Thankfully, the 5.8-inch version will only weigh in at 182g while the thinner 6.3-inch version will weigh in at 199g. Samsung have stated that the overall plastic chassis will still be the same but both models will not support the S Pen. From the released images, both models are actually about the same size in terms of chassis but the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 has a bigger screen and narrower side bezels

We expect that with its specs and larger screen, these two oversized phablets are meant to fit into the phablet market in the same way as the Samsung Galaxy Grand, as value-added devices for the general midrange user. While the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 may yet fit into someone's pocket, the Samsung Galaxy Mega 6.3 would require really big pants to go with the XXXL sized pockets. However, as a phablet for a woman with a handbag (or a guy with a man bag)? That has even better possibilities. Still no news on when or if the Samsung Galaxy Mega models are coming to Malaysia but stay tuned and we will keep you updated.
