In October last year, we shared how the Sarawak State Government, through Hornbill Skyways Sdn Bhd, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) to acquire MASWings Sdn Bhd for the proposed Sarawak-owned boutique airline. Now, Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Abang Openg has given an update on the proposal, revealing that the airline is expected to take off in 2025.

According to Bernama, Abang Johari asserted that the process of acquiring MASwings Sdn Bhd is expected to be finalised by the end of this year. He added that the current focus is now on discussing the technical aspects of the acquisition.

The Sarawak Premier added that a name has already been decided for the state-owned airline, though he can’t announce it just yet. Regardless, Abang Johari seems confident that the airline will take off next year.
