After the Sony Xperia Z, there are still quite a few premium-level smartphones in the Xperia range especially now that Sony have released the Sony Xperia SP. Focusing on the upper end of the mid-range market, the Xperia SP features a design slightly different from the flagship Xperia Z model. This includes an aluminum chassis and buttons along with the a transparent belt on the lower part of the chassis, the Xperia SP looks cool. Some tech specs for the Sony Xperia SP include:

  • 1.7GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 Pro processor (dual-core Krait CPU, Adreno 320 GPU)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 4.6-inch display (720p, Mobile Bravia Engine 2)
  • 8GB storage
  • 8MP camera (Exmor RS sensor) + VGA front camera
  • 2370 mAh battery (STAMINA batery saving mode)
  • NFC + LTE connectivity
  • Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean)

The different design makes it a striking choice apart from the flagship Sony Xperia Z especially those looking to get an LTE phone with a near phablet-size screen. The better processor and GPU also guarantee better overall performance. The slightly larger battery and STAMINA battery saving mode also means this smartphone should last for quite some time. Pricing in Malaysia has yet to reach us but the Sony Xperia SP was priced at £359 (RM1694) in the UK. Check out our more detailed Mobile Mega Mall spec sheet here.
