After the big names like Nokia announced of N9 smartphone, we have a major update from Sony Ericsson. One would be expecting the higher end version of Sony Xperia but unfortunately Sony goes for mid-range Xperia Ray.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray - Features & Processor:

Sony Ericsson ST18i or Sony Ericsson Urushi refers to the handset Sony Xperia Ray. From the front it’s a 3G mobile phone running on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system with quite a good number of features with beautiful design. Its powered with 1 Ghz Scorpion processor, Adreno 205 GPU with Snapdragon chipset.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray - Display Screen:

What I like about Xperia Ray is the resolution of its screen which was displaying much sharper by BRAVIA mobile engine. It has got 3.3 inches screen with full touchscreen support providing you with FWVGA resolution of 854×480 pixels. Provided to that you would see Accelerometer sensor for auto rotate, multi-touch input method, proximity sensor for auto turn off and scratch resistant display.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray - Camera:

I have been a fan of Sony Ericsson phone based cameras and they are the best in the world since many years. Xperia Ray too continues with same tradition and it has got impressive 8 megapixel camera with a focal length of 2.4 aperture. Now then you can guess that 8 Megapixel in Sony Ericsson is somewhat like 10 Megapixel in Nokia or other smartphones. It does have a secondary camera on the front for video calling. The camera has got other features like auto focus, LED flash, touch focus, geo tagging with face detection and image stabilization. Obviously you would be able to record 720p videos with great quality.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray - Memory, Multimedia & Others:

It comes with a GPS support it can provide you navigation support. You are provided with 4 GB included memory and it can be expandable to 32GB through the external provided micro SD card. Provided with Bluetooth, WiFi, WiFi hostspot and and with micro USB v 2.0 as the connectivity options. The entertainment through this mobile is extended with MP4, H.263, H.264 player support and for that you can connect your universal accepted headphones. For radio enthusiastic it has got FM Radio with RDS support.

Sony Ericsson Xperia Ray - Battery:

It’s provided with a standard Lithium ion battery of 1500 mAh power which can provide you a standby time of 430 hours in 2G and up to 440 hours in 3G usage. The talk time with the same battery comes to 7 hours in 2G and 7 hours in 3G too. You can continuously play the music for almost one and a half day.
