If you’re a big fan of Sony’s reputable Cyber-shot series, then you’re gonna love this one. Sony Malaysia have announced a new member of the Cyber-shot series, the Sony H400 and it has the highest zoom-in function (63x optical zoom range) of any of Sony’s compact digital cameras.

Before we get to the awesome H400 camera features, here are the tech specs:-

  • 20.1MP with Super HAD CCD
  • Optical SteadyShot
  • HD 720p video recording
  • 3.0-type ClearPhoto LCD
  • Advanced Flash, Party Mode and Picture Effect (4 modes)

The H400’s huge 63x optical zoom is equivalent to a 24.5 - 1550mm focal length in 35mm format, this means that it won’t have a problem stretching the image from a wide angle to a super-telephoto. Nothing is out of reach of its range so to speak, accommodating any conceivable shooting situation; from the great outdoors to memorable family trips with everyone in the frame. You can even use it to observe wild animals from their natural habitat without disturbing them.

If you’re worried of shaking too much while zooming in, Sony have pre-installed an Optical SteadyShot. It eliminates any risk of blurred  images even when you’re holding the camera at arm’s length. Combining with the 20.1MP camera, it’s more assuring your picture won’t have any jittery pictures. You can also use it for video recording at a respectable 720p in high definition. Simply press the “Movie” button and share it on the web.

The body is designed for comfortable handling and easy operation. The grip feels firm, and the electronic viewfinder can help to frame scenes accurately, even under a bright sunny day. This is all thanks to the Intelligent Auto program that takes the guesswork out of achieving top-quality results, as it takes care of the exposure automatically in any shooting environment.

Speaking of shooting in low-light environments, the H400 has no problem taking pictures in the dark too. So if you’re going to some party, the Party Mode is the best choice for such an occasion. Like the Intelligent Mode, the Party Mode also automatically adjusts sensitivity, exposure and colour for vivid memories of those fun evenings.

The Sony H400 is now available in Malaysia at the retail price of RM1299 (with GST), with a free 16GB SD Card (SF-16UX) and a LCS-U21 casing.
