If you frequently use Spotify, this news might excite you. Recently, the leaked interface (UI) for the app hinted at the possible release of Spotify's long-awaited lossless audio stage, suggesting it may be closer to arrival than previously expected. That said, what should you know about it?

For your information, the screenshot of version 1.2.36 of Spotify by Redditor OhItsTom reveals features such as lossless streaming quality reaching up to 1,411kbps. It also has the possibility of going higher to 2,117kbps. Additionally, limited tracks may support up to 24-bit/44.1kHz via FLAC audio format.

In addition, the leaked screenshot also showcases a device compatibility checker that informs users whether their device, connection type and bandwidth can support lossless audio. Spotify insiders allegedly refer to the feature as “enhanced listening” rather than HiFi with the potential rebranding of HiFi to “ Lossless ” as suggested by the mobile app's introduction screen.

Despite Spotify's assurances including mentioning that the feature has been in development for years, users remain wary given the availability of high-resolution audio on rival platforms such as Amazon Music, Apple Music and Tidal. We have yet to confirm other details on the news. However, we could expect Spotify users in Malaysia to welcome this new feature.
