It’s no secret that since its launch on 2 January, the Central Database Hub (PADU) has faced scrutiny from the public, the number of people updating their info on the database is still low despite the due date being just a mere 7 days away. With the Sarawak Government also voicing reservations about PADU, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has instructed Economy Minister Rafizi Ramil to clarify the database’s registration issue at the Cabinet Meeting next week.

According to Bernama, Anwar said that he recently had a discussion with Sarawak Premier Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg regarding PADU. During the meeting, Abang Johari voiced some concerns and raised some questions.

Accordingly, Anwar has tasked Rafizi with examining the issue and providing an explanation to the Cabinet. While Anwar didn’t elaborate on the concerns, it is believed to pertain to the statement by Sarawak Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah who revealed that Sarawak has called for PADU registration to be halted in the state unless several issues are resolved, including the need to disclose personal information such as bank accounts.
