If you were waiting for the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G variant, mark your calendars as Xiaomi Malaysia just announced that the device would be available for sale in the country from 11 December 2014. The news comes almost three weeks after Xiaomi announced the device back in Singapore. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 4G supports 4G TDD-LTE network unlike the regular 3G version. However, this isn't the only difference between the two devices. For example, the regular Redmi Note runs on a Mediatek processor unlike this variant which features a Snapdragon 400 Quad Core processor. The battery is smaller on the 4G version, 3100 mAh instead of 3200 mAh capacity and it weighs 10 grams less too. Also, the new device is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD as opposed to 32GB on the Note 3G. Xiaomi has also removed the dual sim card slots in the 4G model. Other than these, tech specs and design are the same. You have a 8GB internal storage, 5.5inch IPS 720p display, 13MP f/2.2 rear camera and a 5MP front camera. The Redmi Note 4G will be available to purchase for a retail price of RM589. Meanwhile, check out the detailed comparison between both the devices using our tech spec comparison tool.

Xiaomi has recently announced their MIUI 6 system for Android smartphones. Featuring a flatter design with pastel colours and stunning effects, the overall design is beautiful even if it is borrowing heavily from the latest iOS design. We won't say who is copying who exactly as even Apple has borrowed any number of features from other operating systems as well, but it isn't easy to make a beautiful copy of something beautiful, and for this Xiaomi should be commended. That being said, the overall interface is a lot more simple and should offer many more features for Xiaomi's smartphones and mobile devices in the future. For now, the MIUI 6 system is still under beta testing with a Developer build expected to arrive in early September 2014 while the final version is slated for October 2014. Do check out the Xiaomi MIUI 6 videos for yourself below:

Xiaomi co-founder Bin Lin recently shared a big image of a 4 on his Facebook page along with the statement that they would tell the story about "The journey of a piece of steel metal". The image itself looks like that of brushed metal hinting that the Xiaomi Mi-4 could be coming with a metal chassis on 22 July 2014 which is the company's annual product launch event. While the teaser does not mention any tech specs or features it seems obvious that the Xiaomi Mi-4 would come with some hardware refreshes such as a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, 3GB RAM, 4G LTE or perhaps even a 2K 2560 x 1440 pixel resolution display. The real killer question will be how much it will cost when it does arrive in Malaysia, but we're thinking that it could be around the RM1K level if not RM998 outright. What do you think?

Apart from the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone, the 10400 mAh Mi Power Bank also got very good response when it was available previously. Now that the second batch of Xiaomi products will be available tomorrow on 27 May 2014,Xiaomi Malaysia have announced that there will be 5000 units of the Mi Power Bank available for the same super low price of RM36. The Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone is also getting an increase in the number of units available for sale with 6000 units available for tomorrow as well. Despite the larger amounts, we expect the Xiaomi Mi 3 and Mi Power Bank units to go just as fast as the previous record of 17 minutes but if you still want one, check out the buying guide and make sure your PayPal or Credit card is in working. As always, we would like to remind would-be-buyers not to rage too much if you don't get either device as we expect more Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphones and Mi Power banks to be coming soon.

Just as was hinted by the DiGi registration of interest page for the Xiaomi Mi 3, the second batch of units for the smartphone has been announced for 27 May 2014. In response to the great demand for the first batch (and perhaps all the raging fans not being able to get through Xiaomi servers or PayPal payments) Xiaomi Malaysia have also announced that this second batch will consist of 6000 Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphones. While this is 2000 units more than the previous batch, we think this batch will go just as quickly, especially as some third-party sellers are buying the units in bulk and then reselling them at a higher price afterwards. No news if there are going to be any other limitations this time to stop this from happening, but again we reiterate that there is NO news that Xiaomi Malaysia will stop bringing in the Xiaomi Mi 3 just yet, so if you just wait and be a little patient, you will be able to get the smartphone at the normal retail price of RM889.

Xiaomi Malaysia will begin selling their Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone at RM889 and 10400 mAh Mi Power Bank at RM36 tomorrow at exactly 12pm on 20 May 2014. Sales will be done entirely online and there are only limited amounts of the Xiaomi Mi 3 (4000 units) and Mi Power Bank (5000 units). We expect them to be gone in minutes if not seconds but Xiaomi Malaysia are limiting only 1 unit of Mi 3 smartphone per order and 2 units of Mi Power Bank per order. Both come in just Silver so there won't be any rush for gold or red colour versions. You will have to register for PayPal which you can do with any local credit card and most debit cards. We advise you to login early and have a very fast connection to stand a chance of getting any units from the first batch but do remember that more batches will be coming so don't get too down if you don't make it. Also remember that just getting it to your cart does not mean you've bought it, so once you do, make sure you get a confirmed payment as soon as possible. For a step by step guide check out this article.

Quite a few people here in Malaysia are thrilled by the Xiaomi Mi 3 smartphone that will be coming to Malaysia on 20 May 2014. However, there is a downside to this as Xiaomi Malaysia have announced that there will only be 4000 sets available in the first batch of smartphones for the country. Quite a few online buyers are miffed at this but realistically speaking, it isn't very easy to bring in a lot of stock to multiple markets, especially when you enter so many different markets at the same time. For now, we're just thankful that we can get such high-end tech specs that the Xiaomi Mi 3 is offering at a super-low price of RM889. Does it really matter if you're the first one to get it? Nevertheless, we expect the 4000 sets to be gone in minutes if not seconds, as Xiaomi usually sells out in the same amount of time or less for previous markets such as Singapore and even it's main base of China.

The China-brand smartphone invasion is upon us as Xiaomi has announced plans that it will be arriving in Malaysia soon. Coming from Hugo Barra, VP of Xiaomi Global in an interview with HardwareZone Singapore, Malaysia will see a Malaysian branch for Xiaomi in the next two months (which would be April 2014). Xiaomi recently came out with the Redmi smartphone in Singapore at S$169 (RM441) with some respectable tech specs which included a 1.5GHz quad-core processor, 4.7-inch IPS display and dual-SIM support. No news yet if this is the exact same smartphone Malaysia will be getting for the initial Xiaomi Malaysia launch but more smartphone brand makers can only mean good things for buyers here in Malaysia. No specific Malaysia release dates were mentioned though, but we're guessing Xiaomi smartphones and devices being available here in or after April 2014.
