Deputy Minister of Communications Teo Nie Ching has announced that the Cyber Security Bill is projected to be tabled in Parliament by the end of this year at the latest. Currently, her Ministry is reviewing various aspects of the bill and seeking feedback from the Attorney-General’s Chambers and several other ministries before submitting it to Cabinet for approval.

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil today condemned Meta's action of removing news reports about Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim meeting with Hamas’ top leaders in Qatar on several local media platforms. Accordingly, the government has requested an explanation from Meta on the matter.

Despite the announcement that Malaysia will transition to a dual-5G network after reaching 80 per cent coverage in populated areas (which was achieved in December 2023), the policy has been delayed with no clear timeframe given by the Government. Well, if the Kenanga Investment Bank Bhd (Kenanga IB) is to be believed, the dual-5G network is expected to be announced by the government in the 2nd quarter of this year.

Previously, we reported on how the Malaysian government is requesting an explanation from Google after Google Finance erroneously showed an incorrect exchange rate of the United States Dollar (USD) to the Malaysian Ringgit (MYR). While Google has yet to issue any statement on the matter, its Google Finance disclaimer page clarified that the service doesn’t verify any finance data and is not obligated to do so.
