Weird things happen all the time but catching a minor behind the wheel is definitely not something you see often. Some police who were out patrolling the streets of Lancaster in Blackpool (England) came upon an unusual sight: An 11-year-old driving in a car park lot.

The news was tweeted by the police, explaining that a parent was present with the kid at the time. When questioned on the dubious decision of allowing a minor to take the wheel, the parent informed the police that they were fed up with the child playing Grand Theft Auto 5 (GTA V) on the PlayStation all day. So, rather than allow the kid to game excessively, their solution was to let him practice actual driving.

Virtual driving is a big part of GTA V, which may be what gave the parent the idea to do this

Perhaps the boy was having too much fun driving in the game, prompting the parent to go with this approach to distract him from gaming so much. But putting aside how silly the story sounds, you have to question why the kid was allowed to play GTA V in the first place. As those of you who have played the game are aware, it is a PEGI 18+ title that has very mature themes. In other words, it's not really a game that is suitable for young children.

To those of you who have kids, do you actively ensure that they aren't playing games that they shouldn't? What kind of parental controls do you enforce? Let us know on our Facebook page and stay tuned to TechNave.com for more news.
