In just the wee hours of this morning, a tweet was sent out alerting our Minister of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia, Fahmi Fadzil about another data breach. This time, 13 million Malaysian user data from Astro, Maybank and SPR may have been compromised in the black market.
In the screenshots below, the user's MyKad number, address and phone numbers were exposed. In response, Fadzil replied back that he will personally ask CyberSecurity Malaysia and JPDP to investigate whether it is true that there has been a data leak involving the parties concerned, and to take action based on the law.
Ini satu dakwaan yang serius, melibatkan jumlah data yang banyak.
— Fahmi Fadzil
Saya akan minta CyberSecurity Malaysia, JPDP siasat apakah benar berlaku kebocoran data melibatkan pihak-pihak berkenaan, serta mengambil tindakan berdasarkan undang-undang. https://t.co/ZvaTJajVje
