If you're a Xiaomi fan or a smartphone tech enthusiast, you should probably notice by now that Xiaomi flagships are getting pricier than usual. Although they are still relatively affordable than most premium phones, the year 2021 could very well change that as according to a report from South Korea, 2021 Xiaomi flagships are not the exception.

Why's that? Well, Qualcomm will inevitably introduce the next flagship chipset - the Snapdragon 875 - next year and rumour have it that it will cost $250. In comparison with the Snapdragon 865 chipset, that's $100 more so figuratively speaking, Malaysians have to fork out ~RM429 more for 2021 Xiaomi or any Android flagships using that chipset. Obviously, this from a direct currency conversion point of view, as we have yet to factor in taxes and shipment.

One might argue that the price hike is justified as the chipset features both the processor and the Snapdragon X60 5G modem. Speaking of that, reports say the SD 875 chipset will also sport a new Super-Core Cortex-X1 processor, combining with three Cortex-A78 cores and four cores (1+3+4), it's said to be 30% more powerful in performance than the Cortex-A77.

Anyway, we still have a long way to go until 2021 so do take this news with a grain of salt. Until then, stay tuned for more trending tech news at TechNave.com.
