Yesterday, Bloomberg reported that last year, around 55 million iPhones out of the 220-230 million iPhones manufactured by Apple were manufactured in India, equivalent to around 25%. So, what should you know about it?

14 million iPhones were sold in India

For your information, the iPhone was manufactured in India to take advantage of the Make in India incentive from the Indian government, with tax breaks. With the iPhone being more affordable, Apple also wants to conquer the Indian market, which has been dominated by Android. As a result, last year, 14 million iPhones were sold in India, an increase of 9% compared to 2024.

Moreover, unresolved tariff issues in the United States have forced Apple to move production out of China. Previously, the move was due to disruptions caused by the pandemic. Due to Trump's tariffs, chip and Mac Mini production will now also be moved back to the United States. To recap, Apple increased the number of iPhones manufactured in India last year to avoid high tariffs imposed on products imported from China.
