Several states across Malaysia have been badly affected with flash floods due to the continuous rains in the past few days. Until today, there are still victims waiting to be rescued. Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) issued a statement stating that it will temporarily shut down 333 power substations in six states due to the dire flood situation yesterday.

According to the statement, the closure affects 17,251 power consumers in Pahang, Selangor (5,062), Kuala Lumpur (4,450), Melaka (634), Kelantan (470) and 284 users in Negeri Sembilan. However, there will be portable generators provided at temporary evacuation centres (PPS). The closure is done over the concerns of the safety of consumers and employees during the restoration period.

TNB also advised the public in flooded areas to always stay away from any electricity poles, electricity installations, and electric cables as it may still carry an electrical current that will be at risk. The people also need to be very cautious about the electrical appliances at their own premises too as well as abiding the instructions of the authorities if asked to evacuate.

Please contact the TNB Careline at 15454 if any TNB installations have shifted or collapsed. We hope the flood will subside soon and stay safe.
