Just a heads-up, the e-hailing regulations in Malaysia will take effect starting from 12 October 2019 onwards. What this means is that ordering a ride might take longer than usual, and Grab Malaysia has released a statement so this is what they have to say.

According to Grab Malaysia, 41% of Grab drivers have already passed the PSV license and that's quite a lot than expected. To add on, 7% more have passed the exam and are waiting for their PSV license, while 17% have completed their PSV training and currently waiting for the exam. There are also 13% more Grab drivers in the process of completing the training.

Despite the positive outlook, 22% of Grab drivers have dropped out of the regulatory process. In other words, it may take longer than 6 minutes to call a ride after 12 October especially during peak hours and rainy days. The company also mentioned it's best to book your ride earlier and if possible, during non-peak hours (7 AM - 9 AM and 5 PM - 8 PM).

Grab has been and will continue to work closely with the Ministry of Transport, JPJ, APAD and PUSPAKOM to help as many driver-partners as possible, especially the many driver-partners who depend on ride-hailing for their families’ livelihood.
