Yikes, 47 mobile game apps have been reported to be malicious and they are still on the Google Play Store. The latest finding was done by Avast alongside Apklab.io and although Google is investigating this, it may be too late for those who have downloaded the app.

It has been estimated that the apps got downloaded over 15 million times albeit there is some good news to this, most of these mobile game apps are relatively unknown but still, it poses a threat to children. According to Avast, the mobile games that are listed (see below) will force ads appearing even if you're not playing. In other words, the apps are disguised as a Trojan horse as adware and part of the HiddenAds family.

It's easy to criticize Google for letting the adware pass through the security but it's not entirely their fault. Avast threat analyst, Jakub Vávra mentioned that it's not an easy task to detect them because HiddenAds disguises itself first, then will only send out malicious features after being downloaded by the user. Below is the official list of mobile game apps that contains adware:

  • Assassin Legend
  • Assassin Hunter 2020
  • Dancing Run - Color Ball Run
  • Disc Go!
  • Divide it - Cut & Slice Game
  • Draw Color by Number
  • Find Hidden Differences
  • Find 5 Differences
  • Flip King
  • Fly Skater 2020

  • Save Your Boy
  • Shoot Master
  • Skate Board - New
  • Spot Hidden Differences
  • Stacking Guys
