While we've yet to get any official announcement yet, it seems that Samsung has come out with a "new" phablet in the form of the Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus. Featuring more or less the same design and tech specs as the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8, the only difference is that the 1.4GHz dual-core processor has been replaced by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. Other tech specs and features of the Samsung Galaxy Mega Plus are identical to the Galaxy Mega 5.8 including:

  • 1.5GB RAM
  • 8GB storage + 64GB microSD
  • 5.8-inch display with 540 x 960 pixel resolution
  • 8MP rear camera + 1.9MP front camera
  • 2600 mAh battery
  • Android 4.2.2

As expected of Samsung, the Galaxy Mega Plus will also come bundled with a number of 'S' applications including the S Translator, Popup Play and Multi Window. So far, reports indicate that the Galaxy Mega Plus is exclusive to China but it could eventually spread outwards to Malaysia and other regions as well. No news on pricing or specific Malaysia release dates just yet though, but with the current pricing for the Galaxy Mega 5.8 being around RM1100 or so, we'd expect a quad-core processor upgrade could bump this price up to around RM1300.
