Originally making its debut appearance at CES 2013, the 6.1-inch Huawei Ascend Mate is set to launch in Malaysia on 30 May 2013. Tech specs for the Huawei Ascend Mate include:
- 1.5GHz Quad-core HiSilicon K3V2
- 2GB RAM
- 6.1-inch display (720p, IPS, Gorilla Glass 2, Magic Touch)
- 4GB internal storage + up to 64GB microSD
- 8MP camera
- 4050 mAh battery
- WCDMA 850/900/1700/1900/2100 support
While there is no mention of any price for Malaysia just yet, the smartphone has already been launched in China at 2688 yuan (RM1323) last month. If it manages to maintain this price point it should give other phablets a good run for the money. However, we do hope that they managed to optimize the performance accordingly as hands-on experience with the Huawei Ascend Mate at CES 2013 wasn't as good as expected.
