The implementation of 5G in Malaysia will prioritise 67 strategic industrial zones to maximise the benefits of this technology. So, what should you know about it?

This was announced by the Minister of Communications, Fahmi Fadzil, who stated that the main focus is on areas that will receive the greatest benefits, such as industries that require IoT and Big Data technology. This initiative aims to support the digital ecosystem, improve operational efficiency, and encourage innovation, especially for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (PMKS) and refineries.

In addition, the implementation of the 5G network services will be discussed at the Digital Economy and Industry Council for the Fourth Industrial Revolution (MED4IR) meeting scheduled to be held on February 12. As of December 2024, 5G coverage has reached 82.4% of populated areas in Malaysia.
