The MediaTek Dimensity 8050 chipset has been officially announced. Built on a 6nm fabrication process, the chipset utilizes 4 Cortex-A78 cores and 4 Cortex-A55 cores. The Cortex-A78 cores actually consist of 1 3Ghz Super Core and 3 2.6Ghz Performance Cores for that jump in performance when you need it.

Designed to support up to 16GB of LPDDR4X RAM, UFS 3.1 storage and coming with a 5G modem, the chipset also comes with an ARM Mali-G77 9 core GPU. Other tech specs include support for 4K video capture and up to 200MP cameras. The chipset also supports a display of up to 2520 x 1080 pixels with a max refresh rate of 168Hz.

So far, the only phone to feature the MediaTek Dimensity 8050 is the TECNO CAMON 20 Premiere upper-end midranger, but we expect other such devices to use it soon too. If you don’t need to record in 8K or use LPDDR5X RAM then it seems like a pretty good chipset, but what do you think? Share your thoughts in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave.com
