40 years ago, Nintendo launched its redesigned Famicom console in the US as the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). The company went on to create more consoles over the decades, but the original NES has a special place in many hearts. Special enough for 8BitDo to release NES-themed products.
NES40 Collection
To celebrate the NES's 40th anniversary, 8BitDo unveiled the NES40 Collection, which consists of several NES-themed products. The main highlights are the Ultimate 2 Bluetooth N40 Edition, Retro 68 Keyboard N40 Edition, and the Retro Cube 2 Speaker N Edition. Specifically, we have one Switch Pro-styled, one wireless mechanical keyboard, and a wireless speaker.

The keyboard is probably the most interesting of the three. It features Kailh BOX Ice Cream Pro Max switches, gasket mounts, a hot-swappable PCB, and a smooth aluminium body. The controller is equally premium, as it comes with an integrated charging dock, 8BitDo keychain, hall effect triggers, and special caps for the thumbsticks.
Price and availability
The limited edition controller retails for USD 80 (~RM338), while the keyboard and speaker are priced at USD 500 (~RM2113) and USD 50 (~RM211), respectively. During the anniversary, 8BitDo is also offering discounts for some of its retro-styled peripherals, such as the Retro R8 mouse and Retro 18 mechanical numpad.

These NES-themed peripherals are available in limited quantities worldwide. The controller will be shipping in November 2025, followed by the speaker in December 2025, and the keyboard in January 2026. Shipping charges are likely to be pricey, so keep that in mind.
