Last week a bug in Crowdstrike's software update disrupted 8.5 million Windows computers globally. PC shows a BSOD screen and cannot be used at all. As a result, aviation, banking, banking, transport and broadcasting services were disrupted. So, what should you know about it?
For your information, 97% of affected Windows computers have been successfully restored according to Crowdstrike CEO George Kurtz via his LinkedIn page. The impact of the Crowdstrike breach was enormous with it estimated to have resulted in $52 billion in losses to Fortune 500 companies in America. In Malaysia, 14 companies were affected, namely five government agencies and nine companies in the aviation, banking and medical industries.
We previously reported that KTM were among the companies that had a disruption in the system used by them to manage passengers. Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo said the government would help affected companies get compensation from Microsoft and Crowdstrike as a result of the outage.
