A bug in the latest Apple WatchOS might cause you problems

IT Home reported on January 28 that a large number of users reported that the watchOS 11.3 update released by Apple today accidentally caused some older Apple Watch models to be unable to update, including Apple Watch Series 4 and Series 5. So, what should you know about it?

The main reason for the inability to update to watchOS 11 is that these Apple Watches cannot install watchOS 10.6.1. A developer named Michael said:

"Apple has created a new bug: Apple Watch (Series 4/5, SE 1) that is stuck on watchOS 10 cannot be updated to this version if version 10.6.1 is not installed. Apple has increased the OTA-related CV (configuration version) from 22 to 24, which is usually associated with the late 11.x watchOS."

This means that Apple Watches that did not install watchOS 10.6.1 before the release of watchOS 11.3 and iOS 18.3 will now be unable to install the watchOS 10.6.1 update and newer watchOS versions.

Therefore, Apple Watch SE 1, Series 4, or Series 5 users who are still running an older version of watchOS cannot install watchOS 10.6.1 and watchOS 11.3. Of course, some Apple Watch models that are still running earlier versions of watchOS can no longer be paired with the iPhone.

This issue only applies to Apple Watch models that are still on watchOS 10, and only to devices that have not been upgraded to watchOS 10.6.1. Apple may fix this bug in the future.
