Are smartwatches still a thing? It seems so, and rumours have it that Huawei is secretly developing a new wearable device but it won't be called the Huawei Watch 3, instead it will be labelled as the Huawei Watch 2 (2018).

Leaked by Evan Blass from Twitter, the Watch 2 (2018) will look more or less the same as the current model but better. According to the leak, which is already taken down, the new Watch 2 (2018) edition will be using the same Qualcomm 2100 chipset, along with a 768MB RAM, 4GB internal memory and the same 1.2-inch OLED display (390 x 390). However, there are two new sensors which are a capacitance sensor and a geomagnetic sensor.

So what do these new sensors do anyway? For the capacitance sensor, its job is to measure the environment humidity and precipitation (like rain, snow, sleet, or hail that falls to or condenses on the ground). While the geomagnetic sensor does a better tracking ability in the outdoors. Another bonus for the 2018 edition is the wearable will support eSIM too.

No price nor availability mentioned, though. But what do you think of the new wearable? Stay tuned for more Huawei news at TechNave.com.
