Handheld gaming consoles have mostly been the domain of PC brands, but that's not to say we won't see bigger brands making one. In fact, it seems Samsung is at least interested in developing such a console.
Recently, Samsung Displays submitted a new patent for a handheld device to the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO). The patent is for the design of a remote controller, while patent visuals showcase what seems to be a DS-style console. This handheld features a foldable screen with two controller 'sections' on the sides.
As for the controller, a few details are immediately visible. It has two thumbsticks, a D-pad, four main buttons, two smaller buttons on each side (possibly for Start and Home), and two shoulder buttons. The patent doesn't reveal whether these side controllers are detachable, so we're unsure if this is purely a patent for new controllers or an actual handheld.
Still, it would be interesting to see Samsung's take handheld gaming devices. Could the company deliver a product that stands out? Share your thoughts in the comments and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
