It's the first day of school and while this may seem bizarre, SK Taman Perling, a school in Johor Bahru has just implemented a new way to record class attendance via facial recognition. Not only this is for students, but even the teachers and school staff are counted as well.

According to the school's headmaster, Zamri Abd Wahab, he said that the facial recognition system's purpose is to ease the school's daily operations. Besides that, it can also monitor the student's personal information and could also expand to include visitors' registration for security purpose. The system was donated by Myrahub Foundation, an NGO in Johor Bahru.

In light of this, this also makes SK Taman Perling the first school in the state (and probably the first in Malaysia, as far as we know). BUT what do you think? Let us know in the comments in the Facebook post and stay tuned for more local tech news at TechNave.com.
