AI will raise the unemployment rate by 20% - Malaysia will be affected too

Recently, Anthropic CEO Dario Amode in an interview with Axios warned that AI will cause unemployment in the United States to increase by 10-20% in just 5 years, compared to around 4% at this time. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, Amode added that AI will take over 50% of the entry-level tasks of white-collar workers. These are the tasks they need to climb the career ladder before they can reach the management level. Without these entry-level tasks, will management in the future be replaced by AI because there are no humans trained to do these tasks?

Among the careers at risk are jobs in finance, consulting, and technology. Two years ago, AI was at the level of high school students, but now it is at the level of university students and will now surpass that. Worryingly, Malaysia is affected too.

Last year, the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) published a report saying that up to 1.8 million workers in Malaysia will be affected by AI, digital and green technologies. This is a large number of employees and livelihoods at stake here. If anything, we feel the use of AI should be regulated by the authorities more efficiently.
