Fans of AMD Ryzen CPUs are in for a treat, as the company has decided to release more CPUs for enthusiasts. Earlier today, AMD announced three new CPUs to the Ryzen 3000 series - the AMD Ryzen 9 3900XT, AMD Ryzen 7 3800XT and AMD Ryzen 5 3600XT processors.

The new XT-branded CPUs all come with higher boost frequencies to deliver higher levels of performance. Despite that, it'll come with the same TDP (thermal design power) as their Ryzen 3000 counterparts. For example, the Ryzen 9 3800XT and Ryzen 9 3800X both share a TDP of 105W. However, the XT variant has a higher max boost clock of 4.7GHz versus 4.5GHz.

Along with the new CPUs, AMD is also launching the AMD B550 and A520 chipsets. The B550 is a mainstream chipset that comes with PCIe 4.0 support for new hardware such as super-fast SSDs that boast a sequential write speed of over 6000MB/s. As for the A520, it's an entry-level chipset that provides compatibility with Ryzen 3000 series CPUs out of the box.

The new CPUs are expected to launch on 7 July 2020, though availability in Malaysia hasn't been confirmed yet. With that said, would just having an increase max boost clock be enough for you to pick the XT variants over the X variants?
