After more or less dominating the desktop CPU market in 2019, AMD could well be putting a lot of its focus in doing the same for the graphics card space this year. This speculation was fueled by Mithun Chandrasekhar, AMD's Radeon Product Management Lead, who claimed that Big Navi could be the game-changer in 4K PC gaming.

According to PCGamesN, Chandrasekhar hinted at the coming of high-performance GPUs that will disrupt the 4K space. The current Radeon 5000-series cards set the foundation by targeting the 1080p and 1440p gamers. But Navi's refresh and the upcoming RDNA2 architecture will bring a new wave of products that will allegedly give it the edge in the fight for GPU dominance against Nvidia.

To quote Chandrasekhar: "Similar to Ryzen, all of us need a thriving Radeon GPU ecosystem. So, are we going after 4K, and going to similarly disrupt 4K? Absolutely, you can count on that. But that's all I can say right now."

Sounds pretty vague and could very well just be confidence talking. But a while back, AMD CEO Lisa Su also confirmed that we will see Big Navi in 2020 and that we will hear more about RDNA2 during the company's financial analyst day. That gives us reason to believe that we will have concrete news of it in March 2020, which is when AMD's financial analyst day and the GPU Technology Conference (GTC) will be held.

Whether AMD can successfully disrupt the GPU market, as it did in the CPU market with Ryzen, remains to be seen. But the confidence that AMD has been showing recently gives its fans hope.
