After several users reported online recently about their Ryzen CPUs being mysteriously overclocked without their consent, the culprit has finally been found. Get this, it seems that the problem lies with a bug in AMD’s GPU driver which changed users' CPU settings in BIOS without permission.
Previously, AMD added support for automatic CPU overclocking through one of its GPU drivers last year. This feature was meant to simplify the overclocking experience by adding in a Ryzen Master module into the Radeon Adrenaline GPU drivers.

However, it somehow led to a bug which dumbfounded users by a sudden overclocked CPU in their PC. In a statement to Tom’s Hardware, AMD said that there are aware of the issue and is currently investigating the matter.
Let’s hope that AMD figures out a solution soon as right now, applying a GPU profile in the AMD driver can now alter the BIOS settings to enable automatic overclocking. Not only does this have potentially adverse effects on your CPU’s health, overclocking a Ryzen CPU actually automatically voids its warranty!
Surely, AMD would not void users' warranties for something that is their fault in the first place, right? Especially given how the bug makes the overclocking automatic, which makes users powerless to notice such a thing happening.
