Based on a statement by gizchina, it seems that AMD could start manufacturing mobile chipsets in collaboration with MediaTek in the near future. While there is no official information in regards to when will AMD release their first chipset, it does give us a better idea of what to expect from them in the near future.
However, this isn’t the first time AMD has been producing chips, because smartphones that are equipped with the Samsung Exynos 2200 chipsets come with AMD GPU embedded inside. With all that said, do take every bit of information with a grain of salt, due to the fact that AMD, as well as MediaTek has yet to provide an official statement on the leaked info.
Not only that, but there’s also no news on the Malaysia release date, local pricing, and exact tech specs of the phone that will come with AMD’s chipset.
