Last weekend, ASUS Malaysia held a fitting send-off for their wildly popular ASUS ZenFone 2 range of smartphones with the Zoom to the Max media retreat showcasing the capabilities of their latest models, namely the ASUS ZenFone Zoom and ASUS ZenFone Max. Both offer fairly unique features with the Zoom utilizing a twin periscope inner lens design to be the world's thinnest optical zoom equipped cameraphone while the Max offers a whopping 5000 mAh battery with energy-efficient hardware that lets it charge other devices. Malaysia's media gave both ZenFones a run for their money at the event.
While the RM2099 priced ZenFone Zoom and RM799 (RM100 off of the initial RM899 pricing) priced ZenFone Max were the highlight of the event, the rest of the gang like the ZenFone Go, ZenFone Selfie, ZenFone 2 Laser and ZenFone 2 Deluxe ROG edition were also on hand. All are currently available in Malaysia but for a refresher, check out the ZenFone Zoom and ZenFone Max tech specs below.

Currently, there are no official announcements as to the next generation of ASUS ZenFones but if our sources are correct, we should hear more about them in June 2016 during Computex. Rumours indicate that we could see an affordable range of devices equipped with fingerprint sensors and Intel processors. However we hope that these new ZenFones will also have:
- at least Intel Atom X5 processors (sorry Intel, X3 processors are only enough for entry-level devices)
- 6GB RAM (Vivo are doing it, we expect ASUS can improve it)
- 16GB storage or higher
- Water, dust and shock resistant models
- at least 3000 or 4000 mAh batteries
