ASUS ROG Phone 9 Series release - SD 8 Elite SoC, 185Hz AMOLED and 5800mAh battery from ~RM4471

ASUS today launched the ASUS ROG Phone 9 Series for the global market, its highly anticipated refresh of the gaming phone series. Comprising the ROG Phone 9, Phone 9 Pro and Phone 9 Pro Edition, read on to learn more. 

All variants are powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC, with the only difference between the ROG 9 Pro and ROG 9 Pro Edition being that the latter comes bundled with an AeroActive Cooler X Pro. The vanilla variant sports up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and up to 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, while the Pro variants come with up to 24GB LPDDR5X RAM and 1TB UFS 4.0 storage.

All variants also feature the same 6.78-inch 185Hz AMOLED display with an FHD+ resolution, 2500 nits peak brightness, 107% DCI-P3 coverage and a punch-hole cutout housing the 32MP selfie shooter. At the rear, both devices have a 50MP Sony Lytia 700 main camera [aried with a 13MP ultra-wide.

However, the Pro variants come with a telephoto camera too, a 3x 32MP module. Battery-wise, all variants have a 5800mAh battery with support for 65W wired charging via the USB-C and 15W wirelessly.

All variants also come with an improved cooling system that has a 57% larger graphite sheet that ASUS claims can keep the phones cooler by a few degrees compared to the predecessor. There’s also still a second display at the back of all variants called AniMe Vision, which is a grid of mini-LEDS that you can customise. 

Other notable specs include a 3.5mm audio jack with Dirac and high-resolution binaural technology support, up to 2 OS updates and 4 years of security updates support. In the US, the ROG Phone 9 starts at USD1000 or ~RM4471 (12/256GB), while the ROG Phone 9 Pro starts at USD1200 or ~RM5366 (16/512GB) and the ROG Phone 9 Pro Edition starts at USD1500 or ~RM6707 (24GB/1TB).
