The long-anticipated ROG Xbox Ally and its beefed-up sibling, the ROG Xbox Ally X, are now available for preorder — and their price tags make it clear these are premium handhelds, not casual throwaways. At least, that's for the foreign markets, and we don't know what are the local prices. But we can expect it to be similar.

Price Breakdown

According to sources, the base ROG Xbox Ally comes in at USD 599.99, which is about ~RM2528 in Malaysia. The ROG Xbox Ally X is positioned as the high-end option, priced at USD 999.99, or roughly ~RM4218. As a refresher, the ROG Ally X and ROG Ally are priced at RM4299 and RM3299. However, we can expect the ROG Xbox Ally to cost more due to inflation adjustments.

What This Means and What to Watch

With these prices, the ROG Xbox Ally family firmly enters the premium handheld gaming PC tier, competing directly with high-end rivals rather than budget options. The price tag especially raises the question of whether the performance gains justify the steep increase. Early impressions suggest robust performance, though not necessarily a transformative leap.

For gamers outside the U.S. — including markets like Malaysia — regional pricing and availability will be worth keeping an eye on, as import duties and retailer markups could shift the final cost. We will be checking the ROG Xbox Ally soon this week, and we believe the local prices and availability will be announced soon.

Specs Highlights and Positioning

Both handhelds share the same 7-inch 1080p, 120Hz display and compact design, but they differ significantly under the hood. The standard ROG Xbox Ally is equipped with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A processor, 16GB of RAM, and a 512GB SSD. The ROG Xbox Ally X upgrades to an AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme chip, packs 24GB of RAM, and doubles the storage to 1TB.

It also introduces improved cooling and a refined grip design, and both devices run a custom Xbox-centric UI layered over Windows 11, tuned specifically for handheld play and controller navigation.

Where to Preorder and Launch Timing

In the West, preorders are live now through the Asus Webstore, Microsoft Store, and major retailers such as Best Buy, Amazon, Walmart, and Ant Online. Moreover, the ROG Xbox Ally X may remain exclusive to certain outletsnamely Best Buy, Microsoft, and Asuswhile the base model enjoys wider availability.

Both models are scheduled to ship on 16 October 2025, so maybe we can expect the same launch date for the Malaysian market as well. Until then, stay tuned for our official news coverage this week only at TechNave.com.
