While relatively new to the smartphone industry, Acer are still at it, trying to make some headway. Looking to appeal to the phablet fans out there, Acer have announced the Liquid S1, an ARM powered smartphone sporting a 5.7-inch screen at Computex 2013. Looking almost too long in the hand, the Acer Liquid S1 has the following tech specs:

  • 1.5Ghz Mediatek Quad-core processor
  • 5.7-inch TFT display (720p)
  • 1GB RAM
  • 8GB storage
  • Dual-SIM support
  • 2400 mAh battery
  • 195g
  • Android 4.2

The Acer Liquid S1 seems to match up with other midrange phablets of the same size like the Samsung Galaxy Mega 5.8 and ZTE's Grand Memo. While it does pack in Android 4.2 out of the box, the user interface (UI) looks to be more or less stock Android. It doesn't seem to support LTE just yet. A notable feature was the floating apps which allows certain apps to stay on top of other apps. The back looks to be just black matte so it isn't exactly a looker, but it does offer a good amount of performance. You should expect it to head out around Q3 2013 and priced at 329 euros (RM1322).
