Acer Chromebook 317, Spin 317, 514 & 314 release: up to 17-inch display & Intel Evo platform, starting price from ~RM1116

Not only did Acer reveal one new Chromebook, but four new Chromebooks including the industry's first 17-inch model called the Acer Chromebook 317. Besides that, there are also the Acer Chromebook 514 and Chromebook 314 as well as a Chromebook Spin 713. On top of that, there are Enterprise editions too so let's get to it. 

 

Chromebook 317 series

Starting with the first 17-inch Chromebook, the Chromebook 317 packs a large FHD 17.3-inch touchscreen display with an anti-glare coating surround by narrow bezels. It's using the latest Intel Celeron processors and Intel Wi-Fi 6 (Gig+), as well as providing up to 10 hours of battery life. You can also utilize two USB 3.2 Type-C ports, with one on either side of the Chromebook. 

In addition, there's also the Chromebook Spin 713 (CP713-3W) and Chromebook Enterprise Spin 713 edition. The Spin variants are also the world's first Intel Evo platform-verified Chromebooks and military-grade (U.S. MIL-STD 810H) certified. They come with two full-function USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 for data transfers, power delivery and sharing video and audio to external displays.   

The Chromebooks feature a VertiView 13.5-inch display (2256x1504 resolution) that gives users 18% more vertical screen space, complemented by DTS Audio and a built-in smart amplifier. Weighing at 1.37 kg and 16.9 mm thin, the portable device sports a convertible design that enables users to choose a laptop, tablet, tent, or display mode. The battery offers 10 hours of usage or up to four hours on a 30-minute charge.

 

Chromebook 514 series

Next up, the Chromebook 512 (CB514-1W/CB514-1WT) uses up to 11th Gen Intel Core processors and the quick-charging battery can deliver up to 10 hours of battery life. Like the Chromebook 713 series, you can still find some USB C and Thunderbolt 4 ports, military-grade body and WiFi 6 (Gig+). The 14-inch touchpad display is sporting Corning Gorilla Glass so it's even more durable. 

The Acer Chromebook Enterprise 514 (CB514-1W/CB514-1WT) features the business capabilities of Chrome OS to provide employees with a modern experience and devices that stay fast, have built-in security that deploys quickly. On paper, this Chromebook device offers secure access to data and apps for the cloud workforce.

 

Chromebook 314 

Last but not least, this ultraportable Chromebook 314 (CB314-2H/CB314-2HT) is designed for students seeking a Chromebook for classes, projects and on-the-go activities. Weighing only 1.5 kg, it features a MediaTek MT8183 octa-core processor and the battery delivers up to 15 hours of uptime. Aside from that, it also uses a 14-inch FHD IPS touchscreen display in 7.3mm bezels alongside USB Type-C ports. 

The new Acer Chromebooks all support apps via Google Play and web-based apps, so users will have access to all the apps for productivity, creativity and more. In terms of pricing, you can refer to the details below: 

  • The Acer Chromebook 317 (CB317-1H) will be available in North America in June starting at USD 379.99 (~RM1572), and in EMEA in June starting at EUR 399 (~RM2011)
  • The Acer Chromebook Spin 713 (CP713-3W) will be available in North America in June starting at USD 699.99 (~RM2895), and in EMEA in June starting at EUR 769 (~RM3876)
  • The Acer Chromebook 514 (CB514-1W) will be available in North America in October starting at USD 599.99 (~RM2482), and in EMEA in August starting at EUR 549 (~RM2767)
  • The Acer Chromebook 314 (CB314-2H) will be available in North America in July starting at USD 269.99 (~RM1116), and in EMEA in August starting at EUR 329 (~RM1658)
