When it comes to gaming on a laptop or desktop, having a gaming controller is one of the must-haves to play some AAA titles. Getting that accessory costs money, though, so Acer today unveiled a new gaming laptop concept - Project DualPlay which has a built-in detachable wireless controller that also doubles as a touchpad.

From the live demonstration at IFA 2024, Acer showed that gamers can easily use the wireless controller from its electromagnetic lock by simply placing two fingers on the release button located on top of the keyboard. This action also triggers the two high-fidelity, 5W pop-out speakers to emerge from the sides of the laptop.

Project DualPlay also allows another player to participate in any multiplayer games. This is achieved by separating the detachable controller into two joysticks just like the Nintendo Switch. And like most gaming laptops, this one has customisable 360-degree dynamic RGB lighting on the keyboard, screen bezels, and wide trackpad area.

Since it's just a laptop concept, no tech specs and other features were revealed. With that, we don't think it's going to launch commercially anytime soon this year. Still, it's an innovative and interesting gaming laptop that could pave the way for the future.
