It's not the first time that Acer attempted to dive into the smartphone market. While the launch will not be global, the company's "Next Horizon" is scheduled to launch on 25 March 2025 in the Indian market.
To be precise, it seems that Acer will be working with Amazon India to launch its new smartphone lineup. Other than that, there is very little information about the devices. But if we were to follow the trend these days, it could have some AI functionalities and big battery packs with fast-charging technology.
The last time that Acer actually sold its smartphones was back in 2016. In Malaysia, the company released the Acer Liquid Zest Plus for below RM1,000 with a 5,000mAh battery but with little to no fanfare. Acer also used to have a phone that ran on Windows 8.1 OS. The Liquid series went on for a few years before calling it quits.
The smartphone industry is a tough market, and it is difficult to gain traction with so many competitors around. We will have to wait and see what Acer will offer by the end of March 2025.
