Aeson Power has officially launched its latest Sodium-ion (or Natrium-ion) automotive battery series in Malaysia, consisting of the NaPulse Starting, NaPulse Start-Stop and NaForce Start-Stop models. So, what should you know about it?

For your information, the launch, which took place at The MET, Mont Kiara, introduces a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional lead-acid batteries. Designed to be compatible with over 95% of vehicles on the market, Aeson Power batteries can now replace MF, EFB and AGM batteries and are suitable for use in private, commercial and industrial vehicles.

An initiative for a more sustainable future

According to Aeson Power Managing Director, Jin Chan, this introduction demonstrates the company's commitment to technological innovation that not only improves vehicle performance but also supports a more sustainable future.

This Sodium-ion battery is specially designed to adapt to Malaysia's hot and humid tropical climate, able to maintain stable performance even at temperatures up to 80°C. Unlike lead-acid batteries that easily lose power and expand in extreme heat, Sodium-ion batteries maintain a capacity of over 85% even after a month of storage at 60°C.

With polyanion cathode material technology, this battery offers advantages such as fast charging (0–100% in 40 minutes), high discharge rate for stable starting power, long life, vibration resistance and very low self-discharge rate. In terms of performance, Aeson Power Sodium-ion batteries have a cycle life of up to three times longer than lead-acid batteries, with 3000 cycles @ 50% DoD.

Moreover, it shows minimal degradation at high temperatures, providing two to three times more starting power with more than three times the peak current of conventional batteries. Its wide operating voltage range (6–14V) ensures that engines can be started even at 10.5V.

In Malaysia, this battery series is sold at prices starting from RM369 with a three-year warranty, making it a more durable and cost-effective option compared to conventional batteries.
