If you have been waiting to get a cheaper fare to get back home for CNY 2024, we have good news. Today, AirAsia announced its fixed low fares between Peninsular and East Malaysia. However, there's a catch.

According to AirAsia, the fixed low fares of RM298 are for late-night flights and the last we checked, the first late-night slot starts from 10.35 PM (on bound to Miri, e.g.). If you're choosing Kuching, Sibu or Bintulu, there's a good chance that you will land there past midnight. On the other hand, travelling to Sabah (Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan, Tawau) is RM348. All the late-night flight fares are one-way, starting from 5 to 15 February 2024.

It might be a bit too "early" to check now as we are only seeing one late-night flight at the time of this posting. However, AirAsia is said to add 134 more late-night flights at fixed low fares to seven destinations in East Malaysia. Group CEO of AirAsia Aviation Group, Bo Lingam assured there will be around 25,000 seats for the upcoming festive period.

Our Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke who was present, also said that the airline’s fixed low fares initiative is also in line with the government’s FLYsiswa programme to subsidise RM300 for the purchase of flight tickets for public university students and the RM599 base-fare subsidy scheme for the purchase of one-way economy class flight tickets to East Malaysia as announced last year.

We recommend checking the airasia Superapp or the website version daily to see if there are any additional late-night flights in the next few days. So keep calm and don't "gan chiong".
