For people with hearing issues, getting hearing aids is important to maintain a normal lifestyle. But hearing aids are not cheap, as prices are at least RM2000 and more. With Apple's AirPods 2, people with hearing issues have an alternative.
Yesterday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced the Apple AirPods 2's Hearing Aid feature as the first over-the-counter (OTC) hearing aid software. The FDA confirmed that the Hearing Aid feature enables the AirPods 2 to serve as a hearing aid device for individuals over 18 years old with "perceived mild to moderate hearing impairment".
Like typical hearing aids, the Hearing Aid feature on the AirPods 2 requires users to calibrate it to their hearing needs. Currently, this feature will be available in over 100 countries worldwide but only on iOS 18. The good news is that this makes the AirPods Pro 2 the best-value hearing aid device in Malaysia, thanks to its modest RM1099 price tag. Mind you, this is assuming you already have a device that can update to iOS 18.
So, would you consider getting the AirPods Pro 2 as an alternative hearing aid for a closed one? Let us know in the comments, and stay tuned to TechNave for more news like this.
