Apple is often known for not upgrading a few features on its iPhone series over the years. For example, the 12MP primary camera has been a staple for a few years already but that may change on the iPhone 15 Series with a new 48MP sensor.
According to sources, the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus may feature a new 48MP Sony image sensor, providing an increase of higher resolution with improved details. 48MP doesn't sound a lot if compared to Android phones with up to 108MP cameras, but the A Bionic chips can play a role in that. On the other hand, the ultrawide camera could remain at 12MP.
For the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max (or iPhone 15 Ultra), these two devices may also get the same new 48MP primary cameras. Rumours have it that the primary camera is still using the same Sony IMX 803 sensor from the predecessor, as well as new upgrades for the ultrawide and telephoto cameras with improved and higher image quality.
That being said, the iPhone 15 Pro Max may get an entirely new periscope lens system for the telephoto camera. Many rumours have pointed out that this would allow the flagship to have 5x to 10 optical zoom. Of course, since nothing is confirmed yet, perhaps we should all take this news with a pinch of salt.
As a friendly reminder, the Apple Event livestream time for Malaysia is on the 13th of September 2023 at 1 AM. The video is already posted on YouTube with a countdown which you can click on 'Notify Me' to get a heads up before it begins.
