Without Google Mobile Services (GMS), it’s harder for Huawei to keep up with other devices from another brands with the services. Although the Chinese smartphone manufacturer is trying to make the most out of its Huawei Mobile Services (HMS), it may still take some time for the services to be mature. Recently, we have found out Huawei is sourcing from India to develop alternative Google apps and services, and promised they will be ready by the end of this year.

The President of Huawei India, Charles Peng, announced at India's Huawei Developer Day that the company is working with Indian developers to create apps and services that can replace GMS. He also stated that most of the key apps such as navigation, payments, gaming and messaging will be ready soon.

We have no idea how successful the HMS will be, considering some apps like YouTube and Gmail are so integral to the life of GMS users. The challenge for Huawei would be to show the users that HMS can be as good as Google’s extensive mobile services.

Apart from that, Huawei is also sourcing from not just India but other countries as well. It is said the company have invested 1 billion globally to fund its HMS developer integration program. The developer will get paid with thousands of dollars if their apps make it to the Huawei AppGallery, an alternative to Google Play Store. Peng also confirmed that the upcoming HONOR device will be running GMS, so don't worry if you're fan of the Huawei's sub-brand.
