Delays are inevitable with the global pandemic and even game development can't escape from its effects. Although Amazon is proceeding with work on its upcoming MMO, called New World, the games studio is experiencing some problems with working remotely. As a result, the company has decided to delay the game's launch.

New World was originally slated for release in May 2020. However, due to the decision the release date has been pushed back to 25 August 2020. The team did not elaborate on the reason for the delay, except that there are some problems encountered with having to work remotely that they haven't quite worked out.

For your information, New World is developed by Double Helix Games, a games studio that is now owned by Amazon. The game is an open-world MMO that will feature skill-based combat, building bases, item crafting, and guild system called "Company". It's also a pay-to-play game, which means it'll be using a subscription model.

While the delay is unfortunate, there's plenty of games to play in the coming weeks so this isn't a big issue. For those who are keen on trying out this game, the closed beta test will be held around July 2020. Having said that, what kind of MMO games do you play?
